As the holidays approach we often think about the spaces within our home and whether or not we have enough seating, and spaces for conversation. Any time you design a space it's important to divide it up into difefrent 'zones', creating the opportunity for multiple things to be possible withina single room. For example, in your living roo as space allows, you may want to conisder a large couch or sectional and then arm chairs and a small coffee table in a corner. This creates different zones for casual conversation, and then a laerger space to accomodate for watching TV.
The kitchen is a natural place for gathering at any time of the year, but during the holidays it's especially a hub for entertaining. If you frequently host friend, family and neighbors then you may want to consider how much available seating you have at your island or peninsula. tip to increase the number of seats without changing the design of your island is to invest in sleeker barstools that typiclaly have a smaller footprint than the bulkier stools. Choosing this style allows you to fit more chairs across and therefore seat more people.
Another great option is to include a small seating area near a window, or nook in your kitchen and place 1-2 armchairs and a table there, this creates a cozy seating opportunity that visually breaks up your kitchen, and creates another zone. This way you can have multiple spaces within your kitchen where people can congregate and still be within the same space enjoying each others company.
